Get ready for Canada’s largest multi-sport event! The 2022 Summer Games will take place in Niagara from August 6-21, 2022. With 18 different sports and over 5,000 participants, the 28th edition of the Canada Games will also showcase the beauty of the Niagara Region and all it has to offer. This will be only the third time in history that the Canada Summer Games have been hosted in Ontario where athletes will compete in the highest level of national competition across 19 different venues in Niagara.

Opening Ceremonies will take place on August 6, 2022 in St. Catharines with a “Parade of Teams”, the lighting of the cauldron by the Roly McLenahan Torch, and will set the stage for the exciting events to come.

Throughout the weeks, Niagara Place will be the premier festival site with a showcase of culture and history through unique and interactive daily programming. With culinary experiences from some of the top restaurants and wineries in Niagara, to the local acts and performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Also happening will be the 13 for 13 Cultural Festival which is an initiative by the Niagara 2022 Host Society that pairs each of Niagara’s municipalities with one of the Canadian provinces and territories as co-hosts. Between August 7-20, a different event will take place each evening and will feature a bevy of entertainment from art, various musical acts, and culinary experiences, and includes Pride Day on August 17 which will celebrate LGBTQI2S pride and achievements. Performances include Scott Helman, The Trews, Said The Whale, and Susan Agulkark – all JUNO award nominees and winners.

For those who are looking to watch the sporting events, tickets are on sale for the various events and venues around the Region. From Baseball at the Welland Baseball Stadium in Oakes Park, Diving at the Etobicoke Olympium at Brock University, Mountain Biking through Twelve Mile Creek, and Rowing at the renowned Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course, we encourage everyone to purchase their Day Passes, Tickets or Weekly Passes as soon as they can before they sell out.

Here’s what’s going on for the month of July:

Over 80 Artisans and Crafters come together for this summer marketplace along with some of the top bakers from across Ontario!

Date: July 9, 2022

Time: 11 AM – 4 PM

Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie will feature live music, craft artisan vendors, and food trucks! This event will run every Tuesday evening until August 30, 2022.

Time: 4 PM – 10 PM

Van Gogh Niagara Falls is an immersive and interactive experience featuring over 300 of his most popular works. The experience runs until September 2, 2022.
