Highlighting the UN World Water Day celebrated on March 22, 2024, the Niagara Falls History Museum is honoured to host the Ninth Edition of the “Water for Life” International Art Exhibition. Opening at the Niagara Falls History Museum on October 5, 2024, the exhibition will allow the community to explore the international issue of access to safe drinking water and the effect of climate change through a collection of thought-provoking artwork.
Water for Life’s first edition was presented at the Niagara Falls History Museum in May 2018 under the patronage of Mayor Jim Diodati. Since then, it has generated international interest and recognition, receiving support from various personalities, elected officials, dignitaries, governors, and media from different cities and countries. In 2019, “Water for Life” received international support from the Center of UNESCO in Florence, Italy. By 2023, over 138 artists and 40 countries will have exhibited their works in prestigious international locations and museums. The distinguished participating artists were selected based on their recognition by international art critics and their award-winning works. Each edition of the exhibition features different artworks and participating artists.
The upcoming art exhibition, curated by the internationally renowned artist and Niagara Falls resident Antoine Gaber, is being organized in collaboration with the Museum and International Cultural Promoter & Art Event Coordinator Angelina Herrera. The exhibition aims to showcase the artists and their works and raise awareness about the need for clean water for everyone, both now and in the future.
The artworks on display will represent a variety of media, all revolving around the theme of water. The choice of Niagara Falls as the location for the exhibition is fitting, as it serves as a reminder that a significant portion of the world’s population still lacks access to clean water. At the same time, the City symbolizes the abundance of fresh water and its importance in our daily lives.
“Water for Life” opens on October 5, 2024, at the Niagara Falls History Museum, 5810 Ferry Street. It runs until January 5, 2025.
