September 2020: Labour Day Weekend in Niagara With many gearing up for back to school, we know that the Labour Day Weekend is the perfect opportunity for families to get outside and explore our beautiful region. As part of the Public Health effort to reduce the spread, this app works by: Bluetooth technology exchanges signals with nearby phonesIf an individual has tested positive for COVID, their public health authority will issue them a one-time key to enter into the appIf you have been in contact or within 2 metres of an infected person for over 15 minutes within the previous 14 days, your phone will alert you (as long as both phones have the app)If you have been exposed, you will receive instructions through the app on what you should do next At this time, the app is only available on smartphones in Ontario. "COVID Alert" is a non-mandatory notification app and not a contact-tracing app. Officials have maintained that the app becomes more effective as more people download it.
