Niagara Bound Tours was founded by Lezlie Harper. Lezlie has extensive experience organizing and conducting customized historical tours throughout the Niagara region. As a fifth-generation Canadian descendant of a fugitive slave from Kentucky, she has a personal interest in the history of Freedom Seekers who came to Canada, in particular the Niagara area.
The tour covers history from the 18th to the 20th century. Sites of famous people are also visited such as:
- Harriet Tubman
- Josiah Henson (Uncle Tom’s Cabin book)
- Anthony Burns
- W.E.B. DuBois
As well as others that visited Niagara during that time.
The tour allows people to see other areas of the region, aside from Niagara Falls. For a motor coach group; the tour lasts between four and six hours, depending on whether a hot lunch is included. The tour can also include a tour of the church that is believed Harriet Tubman attended when she was in the area.
In addition to bus tours, caravan tours are available as well as private tours for two or more. These tours last four hours. All tours include a bit of walking but can also happen without getting out of the vehicle. Should one decide not to get off at some spots they miss seeing the beauty of the site but it is completely up to the visitor.
