Horse Power, presented by Rookleys Canadian Art, celebrates horses as both majestic beasts and gentle companions and brings together more than 80 original historical Canadian horse paintings. This exhibition also celebrates horse paintings by local artist Peter Cheung whose technical skill, careful study, and eye makes him Rookleys most sought after artist for commissioned horse pieces. From motion and muscle to grace and proportion, the horse is the most difficult creature to paint. Peter’s pieces are instantly recognizable for his stunning use of light to facilitate energy, life force, mass and power in motion.
Partnering with Rookleys, The Fort Erie Race Track, has invited Peter Cheung to paint live horse racing throughout the day. This is an opportunity to meet Peter and begin a conversation if you have ever considered a commissioned oil painting of you and your horse.
Rookleys Horse Power exhibition opens May 30th, and the Fort Erie Race track opens the following day, May 31st. Both events include free admission and free parking. The racetrack welcomes its 129th season of live thoroughbred horse racing throughout the day, food trucks, a farmers’ market with local vendors, and live entertainment.
