October 2019: Things Get Spooky Things are getting spooky in Niagara! Here's our round-up of Pumpkin Patches, Hay Rides and Halloween-Themed activities for you and the family.  Howell's Pumpkin Farm   Howell's Pumpkin Farm is a family-favourite in Niagara that has been around since 1975. Located in Fonthill, it's a quick and easy drive for locals that offers so much programming and entertainment for the entire family.

With animatronic themed shows, corn mazes, wagon rides, zombie paintball and countless delicious treats (think donuts, fudge, candy apples, and hand-cut fries) – you can easily spend the entire day at Howell's. For an Instagram-worthy photo make sure to check out the thousands of pumpkins or snap a drool-worthy picture with your pumpkin donut! There is no admission charge to wander around the Market area but pricing starts from $12.00 for the Howl'n Theme Area with tokens available for purchase.    Frightmare in the Falls   Niagara Falls hosts Frightmare in the Falls – one of the most interactive Horror Festivals in North America that spans over two days at the Scotiabank Convention Centre.

On October 26 and 27, over 50,000 square feet will be covered in memorabilia, celebrities, panels, movies, displays, cosplay, and more! If you are a true horror-aficionado, this festival is not to be missed. Tickets start at $25.95 each and can be purchased online.    Warner Ranch and Pumpkin Farm   One of the largest pumpkin farms in the region is Warner Ranch and Pumpkin Farm.

Daily activities are available whether it be an educational tour, farm tour or seasonal visit. Haunted hayrides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, an inflatable bouncy house and pony rides are offered to visitors. The infamous Belgian Horse farm and haunted forest are perfect attractions for kids and sure to make for a spooky visit.

Located in Welland, make sure to visit before November 1 to ensure you don't miss out!    Haunt Manor   Set on a 220-year-old farm, Haunt Manor is said to be haunted by two soldiers who lived and died during the Battle of Lundy's Lane. Guests have reported appearances around the property including the mother and two children in the attic… For those brave enough to enter, there are seven separately-themed haunted houses, a theatrical hayride, and some of the Region's scariest live-actors.

Illusion shows, fright shows, the monster midway, and haunted diner are all waiting to frighten you. Tickets start at $25.00 and can be purchased online or at Haunt Manor.    Oh Canada Eh? – Rock Horror Show   Now in its 17th annual production, Oh Canada Eh? presents The Rock Horror Show just in time for Halloween! With a new location at Seneca on Queen, the show is 18+ and will help raise money for Positive Living Niagara.

The best dishes in Niagara …           Spotlight on  Johnny Rocco's – Niagara & St. Catharines One of Niagara's authentic, modern-Italian restaurants has two great locations for you to choose from.

It's a true favorite among locals that hosts live music every Thursday, date-night Tuesdays and "Wine Down Wednesday" where bottles of wine are $5 off. Kids under 10 eat free each Monday with the purchase of a regular menu item (valued at $14 or more). It's the perfect choice for families, dates, or drinks after work.

We recommend Mama's Meatballs and the Chicken Parmesan!    With all the trendy dishes out there, sometimes all you need is a good ol' fashioned chain restaurant with a meal you know and trust.  Check out the restaurants below the next time you're in Niagara. With tons of weekly specials on food and drinks, you can't beat a classic at a great price:   Applebee's (Oakes Hotel) Applebee's offers a variety of menu options but has grown increasingly popular for their appetizer menu. Order a few different items and share them with the whole table so everyone can enjoy them together.

The ribs rival those of any smokehouse and go down perfectly with an ice-cold beer.    The Keg (Embassy Suites) The Keg is the perfect spot for drinks after work, a first date or celebration. With happy-hour specials and a great atmosphere, this location offers a breathtaking view of the Falls. We recommend the Baseball Top Sirloin – it pairs beautifully with any of the wines offered on the menu!    Ruth's Chris (Four Points by Sheraton) Ruth's Chris is one of the most renowned steak chains that offers an upscale dining experience add perfect steaks every time.

USDA Prime Steaks are broiled in their 1800 degree oven and then served on plates sizzling at 500 degrees. It's even connected to the Fallsview Casino through an indoor walkway and located in the lower lobby of the Four Points by Sheraton.     Remington's of Niagara  For some of the best steak and seafood in Niagara, Remington's offers a mouth-watering menu paired with their infamous singing servers. Niagara Region: Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit for fewer crowds?

Weekday mornings outside peak summer and holiday weekends are typically quieter. Shoulder seasons (late spring and early fall) balance weather and crowd levels.

Do I need a passport to cross the border for viewpoints?

Crossing between Canada and the United States requires valid travel documents. Many experiences stay on one side—check your itinerary before you go.

Are the trails and gorge viewpoints family-friendly?

Many paths are accessible with proper footwear, but some gorge routes include stairs and uneven stone. Review trail notes and posted advisories before heading out.
