Winter Festival of Lights

The Ontario Power Generation: Winter Festival of Lights has become a tradition among locals and tourists alike in Niagara Falls. Over one million people travel from around the globe to see the spectacle of lights and the infamous Niagara Falls illuminated with gorgeous displays.
The Opening Ceremonies kicked off on November 16 with a line-up of entertainment for the entire family. With face-painting, special performances from International Grand Champion of Magic Greg Frewin, cast members from Oh Canada, Eh?, and the Niagara Regional Police Drill Team, food trucks, and more, crowds flocked to celebrate the unofficial start to Winter. With new displays, illuminations and interactive exhibits around the Falls, the evening ended with a cascade of fireworks over the Falls as part of the Winter Fireworks Series by Fallsview Casino Resort.
This year, the Illumination Route is 8 km and spans from Lundy's Lane, Clifton Hill and towards the Horseshoe Falls. There are over 3 million lights displayed along the Parkway, Dufferin Islands and throughout the city. If you missed the Opening Ceremonies, you'll still have the opportunity to visit through January 12, 2020 and see some of the great ways businesses in the area are getting involved. You can enjoy the 2019 Winter Fireworks Series by Fallsview Casino every Friday evening during the Winter Festival of Lights Season. Keep your eyes open as well for the Fallsview Sound & Light Show, a kaleidoscope of colour, music and sound on the side of the Oakes Hotel. The show will play every Thursday to Sunday at 7 and 8 pm until season end and of course, the infamous Skylon Tower will also be illuminated in a nightly, lighting spectacle from 5 pm until midnight.
