Destination Niagara Falls News - August 2017

If you’re looking for a club with delicious food, fun entertainment and events away from the lights and hustle of Clifton Hill, you’re in luck.
A $1.2 million renovation has transformed L8 - located at Lundy’s Lane and Thorold Townline in Thorold just outside of Niagara Falls - into a destination entertainment venue. A large parking lot for tour buses and private vehicles surrounds the redone exterior, while stepping inside reveals a minimalistic interior featuring stylish black and white furniture, a large kitchen and an A/V system. A scrumptious fully catered menu awaits hungry guests.
As L8 is located at Lundy’s Lane and Thorold Townline - away from the bars and other entertainment venues that line Clifton Hill - it will be marketed to local club goers and those from Hamilton and Toronto as a destination.
“We found Niagara Falls needed a new spot, more for the mature crowd between 25 and 35…something unique where you can do a little bit of everything, not just a club or area to eat, but you have the ability to do everything within there,” said Quan Nguyen of L8. Because the club is a destination, management will focus on planning events such as the upcoming Waterfront Night Market on Labour Day weekend, which is expected to draw about 6,000 people from Niagara, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and other municipalities west of the GTA over two days. The market will focus on food and feature about 200 food and lifestyle vendors, a live band on stage and local, Canadian artists, as well as some local top 100 DJs.
“We want to make the event big,” said Nguyen. “We want people to see this is the scale of what we can do here.”
Plans are for L8 to market to event organization and promotion groups from the Greater Toronto Area looking for a fun, stylish venue to bring their partiers to.
Clients can also host corporate events, product launches, mixers, receptions, engagement and birthday parties, press conferences and almost any type of private function for anywhere from 10 to 10,000 people. Capacity inside the club is 500, and 15,000 outside.
Though L8 is technically based in Thorold, it services the entire region and beyond. Having such a venue in Niagara is “very important,” saidNguyen, adding visiting tourists often aren’t aware of the many other businesses and attractions beyond Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill and Niagara Parkway.
“There are a lot of opportunities for people to enjoy themselves in Niagara Falls,” saidNguyen. “The problem is that people come here, go to one area and don’t know what else to do. We want them to come here, enjoy a show, and showcase the space so more promoters outside the area are coming here to host their events…it’s not just casinos. It’s not just Clifton Hill (that offer fun and excitement), there are other areas outside of those, too.”
L8 will work with local businesses and organizations such as Niagara Taxi, the public transit system, catering services from Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse and many popular hotel chains for a “one-stop shop” style experience and to make transportation safer to prevent impaired driving. The club also plans on launching a Saturday night club night, with complementary shuttle service. Creating package deals and building this local network will benefit participating businesses, saidNguyen, adding he also wants to work with wineries, golf clubs and the like.
In September, L8 will host an open house to give local event planners and organizers an opportunity to check out the venue.
“We always believe all businesses will thrive better if we all work together as opposed to competing against each other. I think if everybody’s consistent in trying to build Niagara as a region better, more people will come (here). Their business may not benefit directly, but everybody will benefit together…the higher the volume, the more chance of being exposed,” saidNguyen.
